For 2022, the Cadillac XT5 is available in three different trims: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport. Option packages are also available for the top two trims: Platinum, Technology, Smart Towing, and Driver Assist. You'll find a power liftgate, LED headlights, and 18-inch wheels among the standard exterior features. Opting for the Premium Luxury trim gives you automatic wipers, power-folding and auto-dimming side mirrors, a hands-free liftgate, and a panoramic sunroof. Moving up to the Sport trim or selecting the Platinum package gives you 20-inch wheels.
Engine (Power)
The engine of choice is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque for both the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims. The standard engine for the Sport is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that cranks out up to 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. The 3.6-liter is an option if you go with the Premium Luxury trim. A nine-speed automatic transmission controls both engines.
Performance
Front-wheel drive is standard for the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims, while the Sport features an all-wheel drive, which is an option for the first two trims. Upgrading to the top-of-the-line Sport trim adds a myriad of performance-enhancing features, including a sport-tuned all-wheel-drive system, a sport suspension with adaptive dampers, a heavy-duty cooling system, and upgraded Brembo brakes. If you go with the Premium Luxury trim, you can select the Smart Towing package, which will give you a seven-pin wiring harness to wire a trailer, a heavy-duty cooling system, and a hitch guidance camera system.
Interior
Climb inside the 2022 XT5, and you are greeted with the plush interior you would expect from Cadillac. Starting at the Luxury trim, you find interior features like push-button start and proximity keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated and power-adjustable front seats, remote engine start, and an infotainment system controlled via an 8-inch touch screen that drives an eight-speaker Bose audio system connected with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless integration.
Opting for the Premium Luxury trim adds more plush features like leather upholstery; memory settings for the driver's seat; heated steering wheel; power-adjustable, interior ambient lighting; and wireless charging pad. You get a digital instrument panel and a digital rearview mirror if you choose the Technology package. Meanwhile, choosing the Platinum package gets you heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a navigation system, tri-zone climate control, a premium 14-speaker Bose audio system, and upgraded leather upholstery.
Safety Features
Safety is paramount, and the 2022 Cadillac XT5 offers many driver assistance and safety features to this end. The standard features are lane departure warning, forward collision warning, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking. The Premium Luxury trim gives you a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. The Driver Assist package allows you adaptive cruise control and rear automatic braking.
